
The Second Chance Center (SCC) is state-wide, secure, long-term, multi-jurisdictional rehabiliation facility. The SCC provides the judiciary with an alternative to jail/prison in a secure enviroment. It targets offenders who have six (6) months to a year remaining on their sentences.
The offender participates in a rigorous full-time rehabilitation program. The SCC provides a non-medical, social detoxification model of rehabilitation based on nutrition, exercise and education. The program helps restore personal integrity and self-esteem. Licensed Social Workers will assist the ex-offender in his reintegration process.
The SCC currently can provide up to 300 beds with expansion capacity to 600 beds. It is located in the vacated Westside Jail west of Albuqerque, NM; off I-40 at the Paseo Del Vulcan exit. See Map.
Eligibility
The SCC receives its residents from judicial referrals. The facility is a secure, long-term substance abuse rehabilitation program for persons who are either incarcerated or facing incarceration. Eligibility criteria are as follows:
If a person meets the above criteria, an application should be submitted to the SCC. An interview may follow.
